Tips for Advisors
How to Guide Delegates:
-
Provide delegates with necessary resources (see our website).
-
Ensure that the delegates have read their Study Guides.
-
Encourage your delegates to research their country, the issues they are debating and the solutions already available.
-
Assist the delegates if they have questions while writing their opening speeches, position papers and resolutions.
-
Give your delegates advice on how to improve their work, but don’t do it for them.
-
Keep in touch with your delegates and listen to their issues.
-
Do not micromanage. While it is tempting to ask delegates about every action and watch them the whole day, give them freedom to learn for themselves and have some fun!
-
Give motivational speeches to your delegates, showing that you believe in them and telling them that they can be successful in MUN.
-
If possible, try organizing short practice debates before the conference to give the delegates a chance to learn about MUN from experience, making them more confident during the conference.
-
Connect with other advisors and share experiences.
-
Feel free to ask our Executive Board members questions about the conference.
